Coolie was pleased to host the Bred Well Fed Well workshop last week in conjunction with the Hunter LLS and the MLA. Thank you to Sarah Giblin and Maria Cameron from the Hunter LLS for all your organisation, and Dr Peter McGilchrist and Dr Jason Tromf for a very informative session. What a day to go to a cow sale! The line up of cattle was a great testament to the years of commitment to a belief that a herd is nothing without functional females. Millah Murrah Angus had a phenomenal sale and it was amazing to see Lot 181, Millah Murrah Prue M4, be sold for an Australasian record of $190,000. Congratulations to the Thompson family and to the purchasers Brooklana Angus.
Coolie were lucky enough to purchase 10 females, including the maternal sister to M4, Lot 182 Millah Murrah Prue M121. We think she more than holds her own with a wonderful feminine outlook, a great set of figures and an exciting joining to EF Commando. Another female of note we purchased is Lot 83 Millah Murrah Ela M6. This Matauri Reality heifer is a superb phenotype, who brings a unique pedigree to our herd, with a temperament second to none! She just loves a scratch! Add a joining to MM Klooney K42, to quote Ross "it's a no brainer". We are thrilled to have secured these elite females for our herd. These genetics sure make for an exciting future at Coolie Angus. Thank you to everyone who came and supported out sale on Friday - our first open auction sale. Congratulations to all the successful purchasers and thanks to the underbidders. 100% clearance for a top price of $11,000 for Lot 3 Coolie L31 bought by Hudson Farms Pty Ltd, and an average price of $7055. |
