Our aim is to produce thick, early maturing cattle, which suit many different markets – cattle that will finish off grass or grain.

Coolie is a privately owned stud established in 2000, and is located in Merriwa, NSW. Coolie comprises of 5 properties totalling almost 15 000 acres. 'Coolie', 'Doyles', 'Coulsons' and 'Top Tanks' all located at Merriwa and 'Hermitage Road' located at Pokolbin in the lower Hunter Valley.
 
Our country is predominately undulating to hilly terrain, mostly consisting of heavy fertile basalt soils. The properties are in an extensive improved pasture program, consisting of summer and winter forage crops, leading into perennial pastures.
 
Coolie Angus was founded on Landfall, Ardrossan and Te Mania bloodlines. Our herd has been complemented with the use of internationally renowned Angus genetics, including Stern Angus NZ and Millah Murrah Angus, to produce the premium article we have today. Coolie runs a herd of 300 stud, and 1500 commercial females.

Our own commercial herd are mostly MSA killed, with Coolie Angus being announced in the top 2% of MSA producers in NSW for the last 8 years. We place particular selection pressure on fertility, temperament and phenotype.
 
Our bulls face a heavy selection criteria and are grown out on oats crops and pastures consisting of lucerne, clovers and perennial grasses. Prior to our sale, they are all semen tested, and structurally assessed. All bulls are fully vaccinated including Vibrovax. Our bulls are known for their durability, fertility and their temperament.
 
Coolie run autumn and spring Embryo Transfer programs, as well as Artificial Insemination using the latest genetics available. Our cattle are yard weaned, educated and tailed out using low stress handling with dogs and horses.
